Wine Route of Epirus

Duration: 3 days

1st day
Arrival at Metsovo. Check-in at one of the four recommended traditional hotels:
Katogi Averof, Galaxias, Mari or Olympic
Sightseeing in Metsovo: visits at the Folklore Museum and the Averoff Gallery
Dinner at Galaxias restaurant

2nd day
Tour and wine tasting at the Katogi Averoff Winery (1,5-2 hrs)
Transfer to Zitsa (1,5 hrs)
Tour and wine tasting at the Zinos Winery (45’-1 hrs)
Transfer to the Glinavos Estate at Monastery - Zitsa (5’)
Tour, wine tasting and lunch at the winery (3 hrs)
Transfer to Zagorohoria (1-1,5 hrs)
For your stay, we recommend the following guesthouses:
“Aristi Mountain Resort” in Aristi, “Primoula” or “Oresti’s House” in Ano Pedina and “Arhontiko Zarkada” in Monodendri

3rd day
Walk around and explore the traditional villages of the area or try some of the outdoor activities on offer: hiking, rafting, cycling, etc.

Please note:
1. This trip is aimed at friends of wine, gastronomy, traditional architecture and mountain lovers.
2. Visitors could follow one of the Wine Routes of Northern Greece, follow part of a route or choose
a combination between different Routes.
3. The Wine Routes of Northern Greece are eight: the Olympian Gods, Epirus, Lakes, Naoussa,
Pella-Goumenissa, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and Dionysus.
4. Making a reservation at the wineries and hotels is recommended.
5. The programme could be changed according the point and time of departure and arrival, adding or
eliminating options.
6. The above programme recommends businesses, which are members of the Wineroads network in the
central area of the Wine Route of Epirus. If more time is available, visitors can see more of the Route,
southwest of the city of Ioannina at Tzoumerka or at the northern end of the Ioannina Prefecture, at
Bourazani.
7. In the Wine Route of Epirus there are more possibilities for visitors, such as visits to archaeological places,
caves, churches, monasteries and outdoor activities options such as horse riding, cycling, rafting, hiking,
climbing and others.
